Today is day one, right. Day one of anything. Today is the first day of the rest of your life?!
Well, there are some things that I just need to put my mind to do, and I can do it. This is one of those things.
Hardest part of going meatless for 365 days:
1. When I go to the Angus Barn (they have something meatless, right).
2. My brother’s steaks (so stinking quality)
3. Sausage. Its so good.
If there are only three deterrants for me trying this, than what is there to stop me?
Why I will try it for a year:
1. Protein is good and can be found in other foods
2. Panera does sell meatless eats (because you know, Panera gets my money most weeks).
3. Dairy and fish are not included in this.
4. I want to expand my cooking knowledge and food savvy. I have to branch out.
5. And, I don’t like meat substitutes (so not tofu, or whathave you).
Do you have any thoughts? Do you have any good websites I’ve not looked at.
Day 1: good. Cinnamon raisin toast with pb for breakfast, veggie sub for lunch (and chips, fruit, piece of cake at a party). Dinner: pumpkin soup and cornbread.
I think it is great that you are going to try this! I am definitely more adventurous in the kitchen these days thanks to going meat-free. Just one of the many benefits for me personally.
I saw from your tweets that you already know of Happy Herbivore, she is like my go-to easy veg recipes person 🙂 I would also recommend cookveganlover.com, which is another vegan blog but she has some really great recipes too.
I found HH through you! 🙂 I’ll definitely be searching out some new blogs (Lynns Kitchen Adventures is a good one) and I already have a few cookbooks.
DON’T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, that was my moment of selfishness… only bc I love meat too much to quit. But in all seriousness, if you can do it all the more power to you! I look forward to hearing about it and eating a few delicious meat-less meals with you. 🙂
That’s why there is pasta! 🙂 I love meat too, but just think – we can still hang out at Starbucks! 🙂
I totally need to branch out when it comes to my own cooking!
I love trying new challenges. Keeps things fresh! Thank you for all y’all’s giveaways!
wow. what an adventure!
Today was a success. Tomorrow – will be another one! 🙂 The cornbread was some of the best I’ve had!
So exactly how often do you eat at the Angus Barn, anyway? 🙂 My serious question for you, though, is why 365 days? That seems like a daunting goal for such a drastic change, when maybe something smaller (like a month, or three months, etc) might be more manageable. I look forward to hearing what you discover on this journey, though!
Yeah – I haven’t yet, Leah. harder just trying to go to CFA. 🙂
It will be hard. I don’t think a month would be hard enough for me. But, we shall see. Thank you for the challenging questions and thoughts as always! 🙂
